Altered Cigar Tin

I joined a swap where the hostess was kind enough to supply us all with a cigar tin and we are to alter it and then send on to our partner. I thought it sounded like a unique challenge for me as I have not tried my hand at too much altering but I do enjoy it! So I made this tin for my partner and filled it with a few goodies for her too.

I used Americana Acrylic paint in Light Cinnamon to paint the top of the tin. The blue/brown paper is from The Paper Pack - JoAnn Fabrics and the blue solid paper is from The Paper Place. I used both papers in assorted sizes to cover the front and insides. The slide is from the Cuttlebug slides die and the ribbon is misc scraps I had on hand along with the double spiral clippo , flower and butterfly.

I used floral peel-offs to decorate the corners both outside and in. Memories stamped in Black Noir is a TAC stamp. For a finishing touch I used beads on the four corners to make "feet" for it to stand on. The beads are from a great shop not to far from me, I had fun playing and I will definately do it again sometime LOL

H.U.G.S.

I sent this link on to several people a bit back and today I got a note back from my mom/dad about it and thought i would share it with you all.
H. U. G. S = His Unfailing Grace Satisfies
That was a new one to me :)

I went to watch the video again as it makes me smile and I also checked out some of the other ones there - Korea and Amsterdam and Vancouver. The Korean one had this at the end:

Free Hugs
In this place, there is love
In this place, there are smiles and happiness
To find this place, you need not money
You just need a little courage
Stop. Look around and see your friends and family
And share the love

So look around and share the love!

Giveaway of the Day

Giveaway of the Day

I check this site out daily and today was a good one - maybe you can get in time still too!

I spent the morning shopping for my MOTHER gift for one of my groups. We were to buy something for each letter and package it up for our partner. I had fun doing it but I always feel like I never have enough in these things LOL so I will probably add another item or two. I am also debating on what I want to package it in. Ohhhhhhh so many choices!

I also got myself a few odds and ends since things were marked down anywhere from 30-60% off. I really wanted to get that darn Cuttlebug but it was $70 and I thought WooHoo I have a 50% off coupon - OH NO NO NO - it was on sale for the $70 so no can use the coupon. What a crock that is - darn it I really want that thing! So I dot myself a circle punch since my other one broke and I am going to play some this afternoon making some spin cards. I went to Stamp Chat last weekend and that was the card that Damien taught and I liked how it turned out so now my turn to play with it. I think I will play in the colors for one of the swaps I am in so if I like them I get a swap done too - multi tasking don't you love it!

Alanna is off at her daughter's wedding today - it is beautiful here and I hope there also. I am sure they are having a wonderful time and I bet Christine looks absolutely stunning! I can't wait to catch up with her on chat tomorrow or Monday and get the scoop!

Pretty Pastels

I made this for a swap at Stampers Corner. I had fun playing with my scalloped oval once again :) If I could just get my hands on the GIGA one I would be in heaven so I can layer them! LOL

I love the two-step stamping sets and used the SU Heartfelt Thanks one here.

Inks were Palette Inks and paper is from The Paper Place here where I live.

Working on some ATC's now - maybe share them another day!

Spell It Out Swaps

I host some swaps on SwapBot and one of them is a monthly Spell It Out ATC swap. The idea is to make one atc for each letter of the word. This is what I made for the ARTIST. It is a fun way to add to one's atc collection.

Bella Card

This is my try at a Bella card. My friend Alanna sent me the images to play with for a swap she is hostessing. I used a strip of Shaving Cream background on the top and affixed with gold brads. Then I colored the Bella with my Watercolor Crayons. Stippled the edges with a Palette Ink and mounted onto the yellow cardstock. I then mounted it all on Blue and onto a white card blank. It was a fun image to play with.

Starting Fresh

Well I had created a blog a little while ago after seeing another friends but I started treating it more like a diary or journal and thought hey I don't think I really want to share all that with the world LOL so I am making this blog for the art end of my life. I look forward to posting more of it online for others to see instead of just hiding away in my computer LOL.

This is a card I made for a sketch challenge on my group swapping4fun. I really enjoy the sketch challenges and also the mystery image - it challenges me to step out of my comfort zone sometimes and learn some new tricks and techniques :)

hugs,
Karyn
