Christmas Train

I got this cool train image in one of the swaps I hosted over at Swap-Bot. I made this card for the sketch challenge at PCP last week and thought it was kinda cute - I remember my Grandpa used to set up a wonderful Christmas village at Christmas and we used to have a train too.
The stamp I belive is from Stampendous, ribbon from my December monthly club assortment and the sticker in the lower right was one of those $1 bargain things I picked up somewhere :) Patterned paper is from DCWV and I layered it with paper from the Paper Place (which is now no more - boohoo) I also used metallic rub on around the edges after running it through my large scalloped rectangle nestie!
I should be back from NC either last night or today LOL so hope you enjoyed the things I set for auto posting while I was gone ...

Snowman Card

This is one of the snowmen I got in the grab bag I bought from Inky Antics at the local stamp show many stamps so little time!
I used my Copic Markers to outline and add some depth to him. The star was colored in using my new Sakura Metallic pens that I had won from PCP. They really cover everything so I have to be a bit more careful with that but I liked the full and rich look it gives the stars on this one! The buttons also were done with the Silver Metallic and the nose with the Sakura Orange glaze pen. Pretty cool isn't it!

The snowman and the scalloped layer were cut with my Slice! and then layered on top of a piece of American Crafts ribbon which was layered on top of my cuttlebugged piece (again smeared the ink over the top! - easy to do and great highlighting effect!). I really like this card and it is in my stack for Christmas giving!

Birthday Gifts

Last week was my Mom's birthday and I took her to dinner and gave her this small gift I had made her. She loves snowman so I got a wooden letter for her name and added crackle paint all over it, stamped white snowflakes and embossed them and then added the Chin Up snowman from FCD. I colored him with Copic Markers but I forget which ones as I made him quite some time ago. At the top corner I added a snowflake brad and a bit of ribbon to finish it off. He has a hook thing on the back and she told me she was going to hang it on her cubicle at the entrance under her name plate LOL!

The card was made using shaving cream papers I had made a long while back and had in my scraps bucket. I ran the background piece through the cuttlebug and then swiped black ink across it to keep with the black and pink theme I had going. I added layers and finished it off with a flower from FCD and colored the flower in again with Copic Markers.

I enjoyed spending some time with my Mom!

Happy Thanksgiving Day!

Today I am spending time with my family and reflecting on things I am thankful for! I hope that you are also able to enjoy the holiday with those you love.

This card uses one of the Autumn pumpkins from ISC which I colored with my Copic Markers. The tag hanging off the rik rak from Really Reasonable Ribbon says Thanks. I ran the background half through my cuttlebug, swiped the ink pad acros it and then added a strip of paper from my Basic Grey Recess 6x6 pack.

Whatever you are doing today I am thankful for you- for taking the time to stop by and see what I have been up to!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

HB Penguin!

Hello everyone! I am off to visit some family so I have set some auto posts to go up while I am gone - I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving (US readers) and those who are outside the US well just have a great week anyway! he he!

This little cutie is going out to someone bearing Birthday greetings! I colored the hat and scarf and mittens with my new Sakura Glaze pen and then added some Fairy Dust to the mittens and hat! I had stamped it on some leftover Shaving Cream background paper I made a long time ago and had dug out earlier for another card. The beak I colored with my Copic Markers.

This is the finished card! I used my slice to cut out the penguin and a matching mat piece for it! I LOVE that Slice! so far and am "patiently" waiting for another disk to come so I have even more choices in what to cut with it! Anyway back to the card - I cuttlebugged the black mat piece with the snowflake design then ran my white versamark spot over it to get a snowey effect, while doing so it smeared onto the non snowflake part so I did it a little more to give it a blustery feel - or at least that was the intention :) I added a strip of ribbon and then mounted the penguin on top of it.

Hope the birthday recipient enjoys it!

Classic Christmas Tree

For this card I did some simple layering of colored papers Red, Green and white. On one red layer I ran it through my cuttlebug with the paisley A@ Embossing Folder and then swiped my ink pad across it to stamp out a bit more. Then on the top layer I stamped a Christmas tree from FCD using my Verssmark Ink and embossed with Ancient Gold Enchanted Gold Embossing Powder. It is really sparkly in RL and I love it! I added some gold tinted sheer ribbon that I had picked up at Pat Catan's. Pretty simple but very classic looking card I thought.

Holiday Penguins

I had some leftover purple paper and orange ribbon on the top of my desk and while I was pulling out my Christmas stamps to use I decided "who says Christmas cards have to be traditional colors!" so I whipped up these too cute penguins and added some purple and orange to them and some cuttlebugged snowflake background and walah! some holiday cards to use this year! LOL!

The penguins are from TAC and I colored the hat in using my new Sakura Glaze pens! They are wonderful! I won them over at PCP and boy and I glad I had taken some time out to enter the sketch contest there LOL! Anyway enough of that - if you haven't any glaze or metallic pens from Sakura you NEED some NOW! They are fantastical and you will be seeing more of them for sure on my stuff! I used my orange Copic Marker to dab onto his feet to give a bit more color too. Isn't this Penguin adorable!?!?!?!

Another Penguin

Ok yep I love them ... there I said it! This penguin from FCD is too cute! So versatile and can be used for so many types of cards! Want proof - scroll back to my post on Sat the 15th and follow the blog hop we had - if you don't get a brainful of ideas from that well then I think you better grab another cup of caffeine and try again LOL!

See the sparkle from his sweater top and hat brim. I added some Fairy Dust glitter from Stamp La Jolla to it :) I really like the effect it gives but still am not keen on wearing it myself which always seems to happen! LOL! You can also see in this above pic that I embossed the snowflakes onto the light blue paper to bring them out more.

This is the finished card! I used my cuttlebug to eboss a scrap of white, smeared (is that the technical term?) across the top of it and then layered some cool snowflake paper I found in my scrap bin to build the card. I added a couple of the silver stick on snowflakes I had left and there you go! Another cute penguin card to use!

Sharing more of my Birthday Cards

Some more of my SBS sisters sent me some birthday cards that I wanted to share with you all! My apologies for not acknowledging sooner but they have been hanging on my wall for me to look at LOL! The one above all sparkly and cute is from Julie. It is a square card and so pretty! I love the gold and how you used the cuttlebugged piece with it! Thank you!

Jenn R made me this adorbale stamper girl card! Love the added flowers and the tag on top! I think this is a fun card too with the cutout part for the girl to be in and the colors green & purple!
Thanks bunches Jenn!

And my Anna :) She sent me this yummy cake card and a box of goodies too! Some of the stamps are here with it. She used Liquid Applique on the frosting part - isn't it cool how it puffs up! Makes me want to swipe my fingers through it and go YUM! he he!

Thanks you all fo remembering me on my birthday!

Happy Thanksgiving

Wishing you all a Wonderful Thanksgiving! (yes a little early though LOL!)

I made this card for a friend and it was awfully hard to part with! Good when you get them like that but bad when you realize you really do have to part with it! LOL I had only the one small piece of doily to put the pumpkin on and it went perfectly with this scrap of paisley paper I found in my scrap bin. The ribbon with it's polka dots added a funky touch and the pumpkin set off the Fall Thanskgiving theme for the card! I made the sentiment and used the rectangle nestabilities to punch it out and then added some gun metal metallic rub on to the edges of it.

The pumpkin stamp is from Innovative Stamp Creations and I love her nature/floral stamps! They are truly lovely! I have some Christmas ones I will be playing with here shortly also and can't wait to share them with you all!

I am also entering this in the Stamp Something Thanksgiving challenge!

Tilda with Lantern

I made this card for a watercoloring swap I was in. I watercolored with my Prisam Pencils and then used my Copic markers to add the "box" area. I used an out of the box cutting technique to cut the Tilda image out then mounted her on this scrap of homemade paper I had. (Cool leaves and such in it!) then added some ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon to it to finish it off. Simple but pretty card. I added a bit of depth to it by using some pop dots to mount the Tilda image too! You can see it better in this shot below...

Chin Up

I stamped the scarf on patterned paper and then cut and mounted it on the snow man but I also added some Rain Dots to the circles to give it added dimension. I just really like this card!

This is another card I had made for my DT try out. This was the first stamp that turned me on to FireCracker Designs by Pamela and I have found SO many more that I love too since really scoping her site out LOL! Yeah I have a long wish list and she makes it nigh impossible to every fill completely as she turns out new stamp sets almost each month! LOL
I stamped the scarf on patterned paper and then cut and mounted it on the snow man but I also added some Rain Dots to the circles to give it added dimension. I just really like this card!
We have had a little dusting of snow here and there already and I imagine it won't be long before it is really falling down...I wish I liked it as much as this little guy seems too but alas he can enjoy the flakes all he wants I would prefer none :D

Well here I am again last minute with this before the new sketch goes up! Yeesh I need to set myself a schedule for things I do think...if only the muse would cooperate on a schedule!

Anyway this uses some new stamps from Seaside Stampin' Ink's Chix collection. I really liked this one with the bouquet of flowers and thought it would make a cute card using this weeks Techno Stamper Sketch #43.

I like this sketch and actually made a couple other cards with it but duh! I sent them out before making sure I had taken photo's of them :(

Hope you enjoy the card and thanks for stopping by!

So often in pics you only get the "flat" version of things so here is the "un-flat" portion first!
he he
I made this as one of my entries for the DT try out for FireCracker Deisngs by Pamela and besides being thrilled when I got the "you're in" note I just love how this card turned out! The colors are warm ones which I love mixed with a little funky polka dot action and the brightness of a beach creeping into view with the flowers and leaves and Mahalo that I used! Ok well at least in my mind it is that way!
Here is the finished product :

Take time today to experience a little of both in your life today.
It's good for you!

August Calendar Page

Yes I know August is past but I wanted to share this page I made LOL! On my Yahoo group I took 2 months in our upcoming calendar swap and this is my August page :) I saw this funky paper (strip in the middle) in my big pack from Joann's that I got eons ago and it went from there. Well the chocolate color was hard to match so I used my ink pads and TAC splatter stamps to go around the white and blue DCWV paper and then I used my Copic Marker to color the flowers adding a button in each center too! The end result is fun and I hope everyone enjoys it!

Recipe #22 & Sketch #69 {by tamara}

This is the card I made for Sketch #69 and also the Recipe #22 both from {tamara}
I am a little late in posting and the newest recipe has already been posted and a sketch is due out shortly if it isn't already. Bummer for me - I am day late and many dollars short too often lately! Anyway I really like this recipe and I think it made for a nice card here. I am slowly but surely adding to my Christmas cards to send out this year. Probably a few more cards going out and a few less presents this year do to our financial situation. Christmas is about friends and family and celebrating the birth of Jesus so I am ok with the no presents thing and I wish more people would focus on the true meaning instead of commercializing it so much!

Sketch Card for FCD05

Pamela started off her new group over at PCP with a sketch challenge and I did this card although it is a little different as I embossed on the part I made myself and I simple added some stamping inside the small white circles on the other part. The technique I used to color was marker watercoloring from TJNL but, I am not too sure I like the yellow all over the sentiment I wanted it to match the flower...hmmm have to keep looking at it to decide I guess :)

This is also my SBS24 Challenge this week in that we were to make a sympathy card.

Jack In the Box TSSC42

Well yes it is Monday already and I am last minute getting this posted but I did it LOL!

This is the sketch that was on Techno Stamper last week and I really like this Jack in the Box from FCD so I wanted to play with it and the wavy lined paper I found in my scrap paper bin (which is from CTMH). Ribbon is of course from Really Reasonable Ribbon! Don't ya love that bold stripe!

Here's hoping to get to the new sketch posted today before it is too late LOL!

DRSC7 & Blog Candy Alert

Unfortunately I don't have any DRS stamps to use for the sketch YET but I do have the FUN Chin Up set from FireCracker Designs by Pamela and since he has been hanging out on my desktop begging to be inked I thought I'd grab it and go with it :)

I used Copic Markers to color the snowman including the scarf and nose. Then I used my cuttlebug to make the backgrounds and swiped them with Palette inks to get a little highlighting. The sentiment is stamped on orange paper with Memento Ink and then swiped with my New Canvas Palette Ink to look like it is frosted. As a last minute addition I added sparkle with my clear Spica Glitter Pen to the dots on the scarf and also the sentiment.

This is also for an entry for Vicki's Blog Candy over at Stamped Smiles, which you can find info on here.

Have fun!

Camo Leaf

This is another of the SK110808 Sketch cards I made :)

The leaf stamp is from Innovative Stamp Creations Oriental Nature Elements Set and the Thanks stamp is a TAC GWP from awhile back.

I used my Kaliedacolor ink to stamp the leaf onto some Camouflage paper I made using the TJNL. This is a fun technique as you never really know what color you will get so it lends itself to all kinds of cards not just military or hunting ones!

The ribbon is from Really Reasonable Ribbon - check the link on my sidebar - she has some great ribbons and trims!

Dear Anonymous Commenter

An anoymous person posted a comment on my blog hopper post and I wanted to take a minute to respond here in hopes they will read it since I can't respond directly to them being they didn't leave me any indication who they were :) Would have loved to check out your blog and tell you specifically about yours what I DO LIKE!

If you read the previous post the first top things I listed I don't like all come back to the fact that I want to REMAIN ON YOUR BLOG and not be transported back to somewhere else or to some other place on your blog where I can't get back to reading where I was before I got linked (distracted). So while they were dislikes for me they were compliments to many bloggers out there as I am trying to tell you EASY WAYS to keep me there on your page and reading and noticing YOUR stuff!

The last thing I mentioned actually is along the same lines and it is hoping that there was an easy way to communicate back to those who left comments as sometimes ppl ask about specific things (kinda like you did now asking what I like.)

Anyway here is a small list of things I like off the top of my head cause Lord knows the list could go on and on as I think of more or see more while I am hopping!

1. ) AWESOME artwork!
2.) getting to see new stamps/companies I may never have heard of.
3.) reading day to day commentary about different parts of the world
4.) Visiting places near and far through others pictures and narratives (for example one blog I hop fairly regularly just made a trip to Japan and shared some awesome photo's of the time there so I was living vicariously through them!)
5.) seeing all the different ways ppl do their blog layouts and finding cool new things to add to my own like backgrounds, blinkies and such
6.) finding new places to check for challenges and group activities
7.) getting to know people and make friends
8.) being amazed at the variety of things people blog about, food, friends, games, sports, cooking, and I even have found one about bugs LOL! So many more I am sure it is astounding!

there are more thoughts jumbling around in my head but is this a good start to tell you things I like? Remember though that it is about you too, so even though these are things I like (and previously posted didn't like) your list is bound to be different and as unique as you are!

Do you see what I see?

Ok so this penguin in particular is growing on me LOL! So much in fact the cards I am making for one of my "assignments" I DON'T want to part with! YIKES this could be a bit problematic! LOL This set is called Be Naughty and is from FireCracker Designs by Pamela.

This is the first sketch I am completing from the Sketch Challenge Group at PCP
I really like the flexibility of this sketch and since the penguin is turned up a bit I moved the sketch around to accommodate that. Paper is from SU and DCWV. Inks are Palette and then my SU Blender pen to color in the sweater and beak with them. I also added a bit of Prisma WaterColor pencils to the one band to give it a slight color variance. Then some stickles for a little dazzle LOL! The snowflakes and the little corner gemstones were a misc sheet I found in my Christmas drawer of goodies.

If you aren't already a member of PCP then you ought to go check it out!
It is the newest and hottest place out there for crafters!

Christmas Blog Candy

Creative Antics has some great Christmas Blog Candy up for grabs.
Hop over and have a look-see!

Bev over at All The Things I Love is also having some great blog candy!
Including some Whiff of Joy stamps!

blog hopping

I admit I am a MAJOR blog hopper! I have to pass the day somehow....right?!?!? Anyway you will notice I now have this picture on my right hand sidebar. You can click on it to be taken to the original site and blog post about hopping but I wanted to add some things that I have learned along the way regarding happy blogging experiences.

My biggest dislike is that when I want to comment on something is when the comment box isn't a pop up. It loads a new page, usually on the same tab which then means I have to hit the line at the top to go back to the blog if I want to read farther or more posts on it. I LOVE the pop up cause it let's me leave my comment , close the box when I am done and I am right where I was, ready to pick up and go again! This is easy to change in your settings on Blogger so you ought to consider it at least - I am sure I am not the only hopper who dislikes this.

Running a close second with this is the Catpah or Capture, word verification or whatever you want to call it. You'll notice I have my JUST SAY NO badge on the upper left side bar. You can click it for more info too and join the cause!

One other dislike is when I can't open something in a new window (you know right click open in new tab/window) because if you say "not without my permission" "not allowed here" and I have to click on it to get to the page you linked well then I get reading there and forget to come back to your blog - you lose out on me visiting more of your work.

I also agree I don't like when I can't just hit next blog at the top (at least here in Blogger) to surf for something. I have found some interesting sites this way and when I hit a roadblock from someone else that is a shame cause the next blog might of been something I was really interested in.

Another wish I have is that there was an easy way to respond to comments left by you all...I read every one and wish I could click on your name and email you all when I have a comment back (or clarification or tip or whatever) but so far I haven't found that to be the case since many ppl don't have the contact info in their profile and thus it doesn't show up when you click on their name or photo.

just some thoughts from this blogger :)

What is your take on this?

Cracked Glass

I generally have a heck of a time getting the Cracked Glass Technique to work so I don't often try anymore. Well this image of the Jack In the Box was begging for it - I needed it to look "old" you know like the kind I used to have! LOL So I thought what the heck and gave it a go...turned out it worked this time! Yeah for me! This is another stamp that is on the newest set I am playing with from FireCracker Designs by Pamela!

Oh yeah and watch for a blog hop coming from the FCD DT Team on the 15th! It is going to be FUN FUN FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Blog Candy Alert

be creative..... is offering up some great blog candy to celebrate 90000 hits! WOW!
Make sure you check it out!

Another Sketch Challenge

My friend Erin over at Inky Smiles posted a sketch challenge this week and I took the opportunity last night to give it a try! I made my own pattern paper a small stamp in my newest FCD set Holly Jolly Christmas and stamped with my versamark ink then embossed with clear on the green paper. I added a bit of ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon which I slid through a ribbon charm I found in my stash and then used some glitter on the tree ornaments and stars! See below I really did it and YES I ended up with glitter everywhere - I guess add glitter challenged to the long list of other challenges I have LOL!
So see I am trying to use the glitter but I obviously need more practice! How do you keep it in one place and what glue is best for getting it to stick...hmmmpppphhh Why is it so easy when I am HRH's house and yet I get home and have a devil of a time with it??????

yeah ok that was one of those things that make you go hmmmmm questions LOL!

Jolly Christmas

{tamara} had another awesome sketch (#68) this week and here is my card using it. I really like how this turned out and save for cutting the individual flowers I would think this would be an easy card to do for my Holiday ones. I am not to keep on the cutting part LOL!

This uses my new Holly Jolly Christmas set from FireCracker Designs by Pamela.
I colored with my Copic Markers and then cut them out, mounting them on foam dots to add a little dimension. The strip is white cardstock stamped with the border stamp from the same set and then colored with my Copic Markers also.

This fun set from FireCracker Designs by Pamela fit the bill for needing a larger focus image on the side. I stamped the elf on top of some camoflauge green paper I made using the TJ technique from the last newsletter. Colored him with my Copic Markers and then added some sparkle with my Spica glitter pens (see below)
This sketch - MOJO59 - is from Poetic Artistry.
I had fun playing with this set the last couple nights and am looking forward to sharing the things I made this week! Hope you enjoy too!

November Calendar Page

This is my November page for the S4F calendar :) I really was pleased with this one the colors are more orange in RL not sure what the deal is with the camera catching the yellow LOL!

This was made with my new ISC stamps that I won from their blog contest! WooHoo! I used my Prisma Watercolor Pencils to color the pumpkin and leaves in. Then I cuttlebugged half (or a little more) of the background and then swiped my ink pad over it to highlight it some. The other half (or little less than) I stamped randomly with my CTMH leaves and my Kaliedacolor inkpad. I think the calendar is going to be AWESOME having seen some sneak peaks on the other girls blogs too!

Techno Stamper #41

Well this past weekend was my birthday but my brother's was just last week so I had made a card for him and am now sharing it with you since today is Birthday day anyway LOL!

Inside I had to use a little humor so it says:

This is also the sketch from last weeks Techno Stamper #41! I used my TAC stamp on the front, the Humorous stamps are from Hambo and the accent spots are RainDots! Love those!

Happy Birthday to Me!

Yep today is my birthday and I am going to share A card I received from one of my SBS24 sisters Wendy H.

Thank you much for making the day extra special!

I had a lovely dinner with my parents, dh, dd and her fiance last night. Afterwords we played a LOL game of Apples to Apples! It was so nice to hear everyone laughing and carrying on.

Today my dd cooked me blueberry waffles for breakfast and dh is cooking dinner for me also. I love not having to do the cooking all weekend! WooHoo!

I hope you all have as wonderful a day as I am!
