Is It Spring Yet?

Sally is green with waiting...Is it Spring Yet? She really wants to know! Fingers crossed it is when this post goes up LOL! It is gorgeous right now and I think Sally would be happily flying about in the sunshine!

I stamped her onto Whip Cream Pop Tones Card stock, then used Copic Markers to color Sad Sally Songbird From Lindy's Stamp Gang in. I cut her out and added pop dots to the back. Onto Grape Jelly Pop Tones Card Stock I stamped the sentiment with Versamark Ink and embossed it with PearLustre Garnet Embossing Powder from Stampendous. I also ran the edges of the Grape Jelly piece along my Versamark pad and embossed them too! Made a nice frame type layer! I adhered Sad Sally to the Grape Jelly layer and then matted them onto some Limeaid Pop Tones paper to complete the ATC. Where can you get this gorgeous Pop Tones paper...glad you asked! Get on over to Paper Temptress and chck out all the glorious papers she has! I love the Pop Tones and the Lustre and the...well you know I could go on and on!

a little back peddling

A few weeks back I was having issue with one of the sketches from C4E and finally I just ran out of time and had to tell Michele I wasn't going to be able to participate. Well I have felt really bad about that as I made a commitment to her and by opting out well that wasn't living up to my end of the bargain :( I have finally had a chance to get back to that sketch and I am not going to lie...I still struggled with it. I pressed on and ended up with this card! The sentiment is perfect for the situation also and I hadn't planned it that way LOL!

All the patterned paper is from DCWV Pocket Full of Posies, the other paper is from Hollo's. I added pearls from Paper Studio and then a Page Pebble from Making Memories over the word "No" in the sentiment. I added a Fiskar's Rain Dot in blue to the lower right corner. The scallop was cut with Paper Shapers scissors - Amazing to me I was able to cut it pretty straight! LOL
The stamps are from Seaside Stampin Ink and I love the little chicks - I really ought to use them more often!

So Michele thanks for letting me pass one week, I appreciate it and I hope you like what I finally ended up with!

Happy Birthday

The SBS24 Challenge this week was to make a Birthday card. Well I wanted to play with my Ellie Phant stamp from Lindy's Stamp Gang so I came up with this card! What do you think? Simple one really just colored it with Copic Markers, Punched the sentiment out and matted it with another scalloped punched piece, layered them up with a bit of ribbon in between, added a couple mini heart rhinestones to the lower corner (hey they matched the hearts coming out of the truck!) and here you go!

Inside is a little birthday greeting...hmmm who to send this to now! LOL

Owl-Thanks

There is just something about this owl from Pamela's Yoo HOOO! set that draws me in ...I don't really know what it is. I always think of Harry Potter and Hedwig. Anyway...I just added a bit of gray shading with Copic C1 to the owl and then colored in around the eyes. I did dab one of the yellow/orange Copics to the beak and talons but I forgot to write what # it was, sorry. The tree branch was done using water color crayons. I then used several shades of the light blue and grays to make the sky around the owl. Finally finished it off with some Palette Burnt Umber edging and mounted it to the brown textured paper that I had already applied the ribbon, sentiment and brads to. The word Thanks is actually from the Fruit Cup set and said Thanks bunches but I cut it apart so I could use the Thanks on more thing :) Just bend the rubber snip close and wallah 2 words now and both stamp just fine!

C4E-29

happy Sunday everyone!
I am off to see Cirque Dreams today with a whole lot of my family!
14 of us actually!

I did want to share with you though my card from the Crafts4Eternity Sketch Challenge! I played with some funky paper and drew my color selection from it. Not colors I would normally stick together I don't think but they worked for this one! Funny how that is sometimes :)

I colored my image with Copic Markers, pop dotted her to an oval I cut using my nesties lg. oval dies and ran through my Cuttlebug with the Swiss Dots folder. I used French Lilac Palette Ink to edge the oval as well as to highlight the dots. The purple paper is a scrap I found in my box it looks like a bit of Bazzil but I am not 100% sure on that. i edged it also with the French Lilac. The ribbon is a great piece in purple from Really Reasonable Ribbon and then the patterned paper that started it all is again a scrap from my scrap bin. I layered everything up on a pink base card. Decided at the end I should of edged the pattern paper to make more contrast but no way was I trying to peel apart those layers as I used some red line stuff in there - Super Sticky!

I added the pearls from Paper Studios to the opposing sides on the top and bottom to balance it out a little bit.

Hope you enjoy and give this sketch a try too!
Just hop over to Crafts4Eternity to find it and the other DT members cards!

FCD presents Atypical Artwork

WELCOME to Another AWESOME
FireCracker Design Blog Hop!

Did you come here from Ursula's blog? If so great skip ahead to the next paragraph! if you didn't well then you really need to head back to the beginning and start there...no fun picking up in the middle you might miss something!

The Challenge for this hop was to take a stamp or stamp images from any FCD sets we had & create a different image/look with them. For instance: Use a paisley image or an Easter egg image to create a flower by using it for the petals. I must admit I was rather stumped on this one as I had recently just done this with another set (see it here.) After thinking and thinking and thinking I was ready to say COUNT ME OUT this round LOL! I decided to let it go and come back to it another time. Well I am glad I did cause I started thinking about suckers! I have no clue why but I started thinking about this sucker tree that was at the middle school when my daughter was there and how fun it was all bright and cheery. you know with the fun flavors like Blueberry Muffin, Rootbeer Float, Key Lime Pie... I know you are going what the heck does suckers have to do with stamping?!?!?! Well I made a sucker tree!

So what do you think? Does it look like a sucker tree? It does remind me of the one at the middle school and frankly I am wondering if they still have it cause I wouldn't mind a Strawberry Shortcake one right about now! LOL.

Here are the sets I used to make it:
Be Naughty - the tree.
Cken Up On You - the large bird foot - makes great sucker sticks doesn't it!
Mahalo - the sun/moon single stamp - great suckers! YUM!
I had it all done and thought it looked a little odd with no base so I admit I did use one Non FCD stamp and that was the A-Muse Oval just to ground it.

I stamped the sucker sticks and tops and then cut them out to arrange them on the tree which was stamped onto a rectangle base. I used the Bingo Blast Technique from the latest TJ newsletter for the background paper. Threading water punch for the scallop and dark purple base for the card. The brads in the corner were just some I had in my stash and I thought that they complimented the suckers well.

So there are a few changes for this blog hop :) Have to keep it fresh you know! The hop starts at 11 AM (EST) on Saturday April 25th and ends Wednesday, April 29th at 8:00 PM (EST). Why would a hop end? Well cause there is candy of course! BUT you don't know where the candy is this time! he he...you have to go from start to finish and it will be somewhere along the way... We are also asking that you please leave a comment on each blog as you go.

**If
you are here after the blog end date feel free to hop and check out the posts but the blog hop prize(s) are gone already.

So where to now? How about hopping over to Vicki's and seeing what Atypical Artwork she came up with! I know I can't wait to find out!

Butterfly Kisses

This is a digi stamp from Michele at Crafts4Eternity. I think this bunny is so cute! Here I have colored him in brown tones with a dash of pink for the ears and cheeks but I also digitally colored him with a bit of shading to make a grey/white bunny. It is very versatile! ok ok back to this card you say....Well I used Basic Grey Wassail paper and Copic markers along with a sentiment stamp from TAC (inside says you're you!) I made the sentiment on the rectangle then matted it and used my punch to put the oles on either side, found a bit of flower self stick ribbon (hmmm is this really ribbon?) to mount it onto the background paper. It was originally white and I colored it with the copics to match the pot...which I was trying to achieve a bit of textured look...not sure the picture captures that but I think in RL it looks textured like it has been outside for a bit!

Copics used were: R17, E31, E21, E02, E04, E08 and YG67

This is also my entry for this weeks Dare U-2 Digi Stamp Challenge :)

Totally Tulips

Happy Earth Day!

I am really pleased with how this card look in RL, I just can't seem to capture it here though. It is actually cream paper and the reds are deep reds, not bright. The ribbon also is more green looking but picked up yellowy here for some reason.

I did add some Shimmerz to the flowers , I tipped it to the side you can sorta see that in the picture above. Again shimmer is awesome in person!

Stamp is by Hero Arts, coloring with Copics, Angel Wings Shimmerz, Sentiment by JLK Designs, Ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

SIDE NOTE ABOUT YESTERDAY'S POST:
I got asked how I attach the pin backs and what I do is use 1/8" red line tape. I simply apply it to the pin back base and then press that to the back of the pin. Make sure you put it on so it is easy to open and close though or not upside down LOL! Made that mistake a couple times and while you can still use/wear the pin it is a bit awkward.

Elemental Doodle Pins

I made a set of 2 pins for my Mom also which I wanted to share here.
The Elemental Doodles He is Risen stamp set worked perfectly for them, just the right size.

Inks are Palette and I edged them with a copic marker in Slate. Then I use 3D Crystal Lacquer to seal the top. Affix the pin back and they are ready. Biggest thing is make sure they are DRY in between in and applying the Lacquer and then let the Lacquer dry - I generally do overnight or longer. If you don't you are likely to get ink bleed or fingerprints on the Lacquer which doesn't really make for a pretty pin! They are fairly easy to make and look quite nice when finished.
I do enjoy making pins and need to get some more chipboard blanks!

Happy Birthday - Another Kit Card

Here is another of those fun round birthday cards from the Card Maker Kit!
This one uses a 3D sticker from Mark Richards Collections that was sitting on my work area. I also applied rain dots and the birthday sentiment from FCD to it.

Love these cards cause they can be done in a jiffy but look super cute!

Hey just to let you all know there will be a FCD blog hop this weekend and the candy is hid this time so you will want to start at the beginning (don't worry I'll link you!) See you then!

C4E-28 & 3-2-1

I combined 2 of Michele's challenges together on this card! First off it is this weeks Crafts 4 Eternity Sketch (#28) and second it fits the bill for the 3-2-1 April Challenge. (3 colours, 2 brads & 1 oval shape) I added pop dots in there to get some depth and you can see the cuttlebugging really well in this side picture.

Yes I must admit I jumped on the Gorjuss girls bandwagon, though only a little. I do have a couple pieces of her art also and I collect signature tags done with her work too.

This is actually an image of a girl sitting on a "line" with a bird next to her, I trimmed it real close and eliminated the bird on this card though :) I wanted her to appear to be sitting in the oval.
The background layer and the oval are run through the cuttlebug with the paisley A2 folder while the pink piece is run through with the Swiss Dots and then the Burnt Umber Palette Ink Pad swiped across it. I used that same ink pad to edge the papers too.

I found the metal embellishment in my stash and added it to the piece or Ric Rac from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

I colored with my Copics, of course using E50, E51, E21, E00, YR00, RV23, RV21 and G21.

Hope you enjoy and take some time to look what the other girls have done over at Crafts 4 Eternity and give the sketch a try yourself - it is a fun one!

Dancing Granny

Ha ha I just love this stamp and saying! I decided to go with bright funky colors cause this Granny is hip and with it! ROFL

Look I even made her dance!
I used a penny behind her to make her roll a little so she boogied a little :)

Inside was decorated too - it was a birthday card and the goal was to be humorous...hopefully I achieved that?!?! What do you think?

Big Girl Panties

This card was a new Technique called Newsprint Reveal from the current issue of technique Junkies. I know it is a bit hard to make out what the stamp says but if you wait and look at the whole card picture I think you can see it . I took the close up to show you a bit of the print showing through and also check out the black Stickles all glittery on the panties :)

I made the background following the technique and then layered it with some light blue and black paper. I stamped the bra and panties onto a scrap of DCWV paper and cut them out. added stickles to them and then mounted them atop the Newsprint Reveal background. I added the ribbon and then used a brad from Basic Grey's Euphoria collection to give a bright spot of color to the otherwise pretty black card :D

Inside the card lookes like this:

ha ha! I used my Slice to cut out the & and then stamped the sentiment around it.
All stamps are from Gina K Designs set called Thanks for your Support.

Happy Day - a Kit Card again!

This one again uses all pieces from the Card Maker Kit sent from Annie's Attic. Oops I forgot I added the mini heart rhinestones along the one side - those were from my stash Oh and the mini Prima and brad too. Aren't the bright colors fun! I am normally not a BRIGHTS person but for Happy Day and Birthday cards they work!

Wishing you all a Happy Day!

Dream.

I made this card following a sketch posted on one of my groups (SC # 174). It uses Making Memories Travel Paper, Tim Holtz Distress Embossing Powder in Black Soot and Bridge of Thoughts stamp set from FCD. The brads along the side are some I picked up in a sale bin and they are overly large silver ones that I was just not quite sure what to do with and then they seemed perfect for this card. Funny how that happens sometimes isn't you look and look at a piece and have no clue what to use it for and then suddenly it finds a home :)

Here is more good news and to be fair I should say Enabler Alert! LOL

Pamela's other daughter has a birthday now too so here is another quick special sale (ONLY GOOD TILL APRIL 18th!) she is offering :) Don't ya just love birthday's especially when everyone gets to partake in the fun!

Friendship

Ahem.... Anna are you there?

I glittered! LOL

I am so NOT the glitter queen and I have a stamp to prove that also but my friend Anna she is the definitely the Queen! Anyway I used my Palette Glue pad and some fairy dust to do the swirl on this card. I followed the Stampers Quest April sketch for this card - I really think it is a neat one where we can get those flourish stamps out to feature them a bit!

I am not sure who makes the floral image I received it in an image swap and it wasn't marked but I colored it with my Copics and then edged it with French Lilac Palette Ink. I mounted it onto a copy paper scallop I had cut for a template for something else (yep using my scraps up again!) I also pierced the edges of it. The patterned paper is from DCWV Pocket Full of Posies which I like cause it is already glittered - no mess for me!

This is what I ended up with. I really like the bright yellow with the purple. Not a combo I would normally go for but it works here. The brads are from the Making Memories primary colors. Inside since the card base was so dark and also to cover up the ribbon ends and brad backs I lined it with white that also was edged in French Lilac. I added a yellow swirl and a Friendship sentiment well since this is for a friendship card mingle!

Hope whomever I get for a partner likes it!

Sad Sally- Spring?

Check out the layering I did - love to add the depth to the card - my Pop Dots have been getting a workout lately...in fact I need some more larger round ones - anyone want to send me some?

I would like to introduce you to Sad Sally who is from Lindy's Stamp Gang. I found her via someone elses card a LONG LONG time ago and when I went to order they were working on the site, I started a list and figured well I will wait till it is done so I don't miss out on anything, set my list aside and went on with things. Unfortunately it got buried under other treasures and lost in the back of my mind. While cleaning I found it again and went back to finish my list and get an order placed. I was sad to see that Lindy has since passed away but am glad her daughter, Tracey; is still keeping her mom's dream alive.

Tracey offers the most wonderful customer service, when I placed my order she was out of town but promptly emailed to say when she would mail my package. She mailed just as she said and my stamps arrived lickety split! I was thrilled cause there were so many cuties to play with. Since it was Sad Sally who turned me on to them I grabbed her first...

Using Sketches Recipe #43 from Sketches by {tamara}, Lindy's stamps from Sad Sally Songbirds and Creep Crawlies sets, Copic markers in B00, B02, B05, Y28, Y17 and Y38 for coloring Sally. Some DCWV paper and Reflection Blue Ink, some Prima's and a couple Pop Dots along with the TSSC63 sketch and you end up with a delightful card! And yeah is it safe to say it's Spring yet?

Last of the Easter Stuff

I did so many little projects for Easter and ended up with a ton of pics so I am just shooting this post out with the rest of them. If you want specifics on anything just let me know :)

Peeps...Mmmmm

DISCLAIMER: This was NOT my original idea!
I just thought it immensely cute and ran with it this year!

I alluded earlier that I was kidnapped my Peeps and I was serious! LOL I had several emails asking if all was ok, some thought I meant "peeps" as in My People (slang term) others were wanting to know how in the world the Marshmallows could kidnap me...well the Marshmallow thinkers were right on track.........

I hope you all had a very Happy Easter. I had a very busy few days right before Easter because I decided to make a few "Peeps in a Jar" ! These sold like Hot Cakes this year and I was busy most every evening working on them. I will start earlier next year!

I made toppers for mine that had a couple layers and the middle opened up (the scalloped part) and the recipe was inside there. Coloring all depended on whatever ribbon I had that was long enough and Springy looking :)
Stamps used were from TAC and all coloring was done with my Copics. Edging was done with various colors of Palette Inks to match the ribbons.

TaDa.... This is what they look like!

Aren't they adorable!

They smelled like Golden Grahams my dd said and they tasted pretty darn yummy too! Yep of course we had to try it - did that first before making them for others I won't sell something that tastes YUCKY!
SIDE NOTE: they are super Yummy warm with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream on top!

Here are 2 close up pictures of the toppers

I used my Slice to cut a 3 1/2 circle and then my Giga Scalloped Marvy punch to make the scallop, leave a bit off the punch so you make a card so it can open for the recipe to be inside. both the recipe and the top decorated layer were cut with my Mega Marcy circle. These were in Wide mouth jars so jot that info down if you want to know sizing without having to mess around.

Yeah I know you are all going ok tell me how to make them, what's in it...Well as I stated from the get go - this is NOT my idea but you can find it here:
Peeps in a Jar from Susanna Boyd of http://www.cardoftheweek.com
and it was featured in the The Daily {Paper Craft }Planet, Volume 12

So thanks for looking at my Peeps in a Jar!

**If anyone would like the WORD doc I made with the recipe just shoot me an email so I can send it to you. They are sized to cut out with the Mega Marvy circle punch.

EDITED TO ADD: You can also find the recipe document uploaded here.

C4E-27

Seems I am into using the pop dots lately :) For this card I also used some Cuttlebugging to add a little texture to the card and make it "pop"

So it is Sunday and time for another C4E sketch! I hope you like this one it is a long card again...always good to be reminded to do them and having the sketch to follow really makes it easier to do since long cards tend to end up with too much leftover space.

This card was also for a Trio of Colors swap on one of my groups. I must admit I found the colors to be a little daunting to work with and not sure if they are my favorite combination or not but it was definitely a challenging card for me!

Blue background paper is from SU, Green paper is Limeade from Paper Temptress part of her Pop Tones collection, Peach paper is from Hollo's.

I used the cuttlebug on the peach papers and then edged them with Prussian Blue Palette Ink. I stamped Paisleys from TAC on the longer green paper and the blue smaller piece which also were edged with Prussian Blue Ink. I stamped the flower from TAC onto the top green piece and also edged it. I added a bit of Color to the flower with Copic Markers Finished it off with a bit of Ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon and there you go!

I hope my partner enjoys the card.

I found this idea on Anna's blog while blog hopping. I think it is a fantastic way to share our art!

The first 5 people to respond to this post will get something made by me! Could be a card I really am pleased with, a pin I made, a doodle or something else all together LOL! My choice! This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:

1. I make no guarantees that you will like what I make although I hope you do!
2. What I create will be made with you in mind so you won't get something I already made unless I think it suits you to a T.

For this ATC I used the Elemental Doodles First Fruits set and stamped them
on an oval which I turned into a table with my Copic markers.
Copic Markers in E77 and 100

I used the following inks to make the background:
Paletee Inks in Violette, Sun Flower, L'Amoure Red, Cote d' Azure, Landscape and Burnt Umber

After looking at it several times I decided that the "sky" was too big and over powering so I added the metal letters spelling out fruit. I think it was the perfect finish :)

Now you all gotta go and check out the car she made.
Look real close at what the pieces parts are - it is pretty cool!
Have fun shopping!

Elemental Doodles - 2

This notecard uses the main image pear stamp from Elemental Doodles First Fruits stamp set which I stamped onto Paper Temptress Iradescents Poison Ivory with Raw Sienna & Landscape Palette Inks then colored with Copic Markers (YG03, E35 and G99.) I then used my Nestabilities to cut it out. I used my Cuttlebug to emboss the mat paper and then swiped it with my Raw Sienna pad to highlight it some. Added a touch of ribbon and mounted to the card base which I had stamped with the smaller pear image from the First Fruits set. Note that the stems/leaves are seperate pieces on the set so you can mix and match to the various fruits as you like. The

VLVFeb02 Sketch is what I used for the layout. I found it through another blog I read but linked you here to the original site if you are interested. It is an "old" sketch yes but I had saved it to do and well you know how that goes...

Thanks Bunches

Don't those grapes look yummy? I took the close up so you could see the dimension on this one and yeah how yummy they look too! LOL

Stamps are from FireCracker Designs by Pamela set called Fruit Cup. I used the die cuts that Pamela offers to coordinate with the set and I stamped the grapes onto the die cut with Landscape Palette Ink then colored with Copic Markers YG11, BG93 and E35.

The background is a new TJ technique from the current newsletter called Dragged Madras and although I modified it a bit here to fit the smaller canvas it is a pretty effective background I think! I used Sunflower and Cognac Palette Inks to make this one.

Finally I stamped the Thanks Bunches from the Fruit Cup set directly onto the Dragged Madras background to finish it off.

Totally Tulips

Can you see the shimmer on the flowers - I tried to capture it for you but once again my Photography skills are lacking...actually my lighting is lacking I am going to have to do something about that!

This card is for a "mingle" on a group I am on. What is a "mingle" well just their way of saying a one card swap :) I stamped the Hero arts tulips with my Memento ink and then colored them with Copics and added some Shimmerz to them. I stamped the saying and matted it on coordinating red/wine colored paper. Added the bow, pop dotted the saying on and mounted it to a green card base.

So I am posting tulips today but there is snow on the ground :( Come on Spring already!
