Snow Penguin

Well it’s New Years Eve, do you all have your plans in place?  Are you going out? Staying in? We are headed out this year, not far though.  We are going to the Eagles and there is a Pork & Sauerkraut, Appetizer thing going on and a band playing too.  Honestly I would rather just hang with friends playing games or even just under my snuggie watching a movie.  Anyway whatever you do be safe!  Looking forward to a better year in 2010!

Snow Penguin - Up Close  Isn’t this guy just adorable?  I think so with his fuzzy and sparkly hat!

He is from TAC and I made him using some paper that was left over from a Christmas gift project I had made (will share that with you another day though!) I colored with Copic markers then over the top of the scarf I added some clear Spica sparkle :) I cut him out and mounted him with some pop dots on the card. then that wonderful white fluff?!?!?!  It is Polar White Flower Soft.  I can’t seem to get a feel for this other than for winter scarves, hats, gloves type use so dang it I WILL use it for that every time I can :)  You can get the flower soft thru FCD you know and today is also the last day for the 70% off Inventory Blow Out sale items!

Snow Penguin

Bo-Bunny Back to Basics double sided paper called Heart Throb Stripe – LOVE IT! just wait till you get to see the other side of it :) I am not sure who the snowflake brads are by but they added the right touch to this card.  It is going to be a cold weekend here so I am going to get my scarf out and bundle up like this little guy too!

Treat containers

Candy Canisters

I had made a couple of cute treat containers last year and I had some containers left over so made these 2 this year.  I had every intention of baking to fill them too but nope it didn’t happen!  So now I am 2 ahead for next year :)

You can see them each close up here:

Candy Canister 1

The cute snow lady stamp is from TAC and I colored her with Copics and Sakura Gelly Rolls and Sakura Metallic's. Added rhinestone centers to her flower on her hat and then attached her with pop dots to the canisters.  The paper I used was from a huge mat stack from JoAnn’s eons ago.  The sentiment is also from TAC. The ribbons are from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

Place cards

Thanksgiving Placecard

I had made mini place cards for our Thanksgiving Dinner and not had a chance to take a picture of them cause yep you guessed it I made them last minute!  Anyway I thought all was lost because everyone liked them so much and it was decided to leave them there for next year (I am thinking they will get “safely” put away and never seen again since we won’t be able to find them!  LOL) I was happy to see my daughter had snapped a picture of hers and posted it to her countdown album (she is taking/sharing a photo a day until her wedding next year) so I snatched it and clipped it and here you go!  I used the digital image called Count Your Blessings from FireCracker Designs by Pamela.

The great thing about digital images is you can make them WHATEVER size you need! In this case less than an inch!  Hardest part about these was the cutting out of the image.

P.S. if you care to see some of my daughter’s work you can check out her page Saving Memories Photography

Thanks a Ton

 Karyn's Herringbone

Elephants on Parade is one of the best sets of stamps I have ever purchased!  The set has several different elephants and they are realistic and not round fluffy cutesy ones, although those do have a place too :)

I also happen to know that one of the reasons Pam drew them and made the stamp set is because she loves elephants. So when I found myself in need of a thank you note to send her I knew this set would be perfect!

I did a little of the herringbone technique from the technique junkies newsletter on the background and then colored and matted the image before mounting it on.  In the lower right I stamped the sentiment.

I was in such a hurry to get the card off to Pamela that I totally forgot to scan it for myself (and to share with you  guys too!) She was kind enough to do so when she received it and now I am happy to share it with you.  Enjoy!

Snowflake Fairy

Angel With Snowflake

I found some images I had stamped off on one of my trips to see HRH and I thought I would color this little fairy image (can’t remember who she is from – sorry) I actually had a couple so I layered her up with some pop dots a bit and added some glamour rhinestones to her ponytails as well as the corner of the card front.  I added a bit of ribbon and the snowflake dangle so she is now a snowflake fairy!  LOL

Merry Christmas!

Musical Tree

I hope you are all having a wonderful Christmas. We are enjoying time with family and friends today.  We are waiting to have breakfast with my daughter and her fiancé this AM. Other than that today will probably be a pretty quiet day for us.  I imagine my husband will even have a nap…errr I mean watch some TV or a movie.

I enjoyed making my cards and getting them sent out on time this year!  I saved this one to share with you all today.

Paper is Basic Grey Wassail Collection, Tree image is from Innovative Stamp Creations and I colored in parts of it with Copic Markers. Added a couple Queen & Co pearls to the top right and called it done!

Holiday Blessings

Holiday Blessings Penguin

It is Christmas Eve and I am at work…well on my way there anyway.  I have to work half a day then I am coming home, get a bite to eat and then hubby and I are off to my parents house for family Christmas tonight.  What are you all doing today?

I love these TAC penguins and colored this one in with some Copics and Spica.  They are just too darn cute!  I know you only see one here but there are actually 4 in the set and well just you wait cause I have one other thing to share with you next week where I used some more of them!

The snowflakes were actually some felt that I cut apart the runner and used just them from.  They are so huge next to the penguin but I think it adds to the fun of the card!

I hope you have a wonderful Christmas Eve, safe travels to you all if you are going somewhere, cozy and warm to those who are staying in!

Duck toys

Duck In A Row

Pamela challenged us to find creative ways to use our Christmas stamps but NOT for Christmas.  Her sets really are quite versatile and so many ways to use them and they all play well together too so mixing and matching is easy and fun!  For this one I chose to make a line of duck toy’s with the images from Duck the Halls connect them with some “string” and make a pull toy.  Great for a general thank you card after the holiday’s or even a welcome baby card or congratulations. I paired it with some Porcelain Basic Grey paper a few Queen & Co. Pearls, a strip of ribbon and then colored the image with my Copic markers to create this fun and easy card.

yak yak yak

I love the 2 Sketches 4 You blog and often participate/ follow along with one of the sketches but I FAIL miserably at getting them uploaded in time!

This card is made based on Kazan’s Sketch 40.

I remembered that I had bought these cool clips at the office store one day they were really cheap!  They are kind of large so I try to only use them on hand delivered cards or ones going into packages but then sometimes like now they just yell from that drawer that they want out so I dug this one out to use on the card.

I added little coils of wire to the ends to make it a bit more festive looking too! I used my stylus and coiled the wire tightly around the metal end then snipped it and stretched it out to get these funky stretched coils to add to my card. Fun!

The paper is from several places. Hollo’s for the stamped image layer and the blue layer that was cut with my Fiskars paper edger, Gina K Pure Luxury 120 lb weight for the card base, CTMH for the green layer and Basic Grey’s Eskimo Kisses line is the patterned paper on the top.  I added some great sparkly pink ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon and then decided that the Doodle Factory birds needed a bit of sparkle too so colored over them with my Spica clear pen.

It is snowing out there again now and I should be working on getting the last few cards assembled that I need for a gift but I have a block and can’t get past the colors to think what to do with it, what image to use so I am hoping a break might help!

A Star is Born

A Star Is Born - CloseUp

Do you see that white stuff – yeah it is snow what we have here on the ground and it is COLD! I admit it looks pretty when it is clean and all glittery like this but ummm NO I DO NOT LIKE IT AND I DOUBT I WILL EVER CHANGE MY MIND!  Brrrrr!

I found this great die cut of tree’s while cleaning out one of my drawers in my craft area and the washer just happened to be on spin cycle which made the wall vibrate and the Fairy Dust container almost dropped on my head!  I guess that meant I was supposed to use them both then right?

A Star Is Born

I also used a Clear Single Star and my Palette Glue Pad to stamp and glitter it in the upper left corner.  Looks pretty cool I am hoping the glitter survives the mailing process! The phrase is from Christmas Phrases and inside finishes up with Glory to the newborn King.

The glitter on the trees I have to admit is my messy gluing of the die cut on as well as a bit of glue added to branches with my glue pen.  LOL!

Whimsical Tree

Christmas Tree - CloseUp

I loved this Whimsical little tree when I saw it in the stamp set (Duck the Halls from FireCracker Designs) It was  my:

“IgottahavethatstampsoIcandomyChristmascardswithitNOW” stamp :)

Funny I have only made a couple…the time just seems to have gotten away from me!  Anyway you can see I colored this one with my Prisma water color pencils and SU Blender pen for the tree. I added some bright red Rhinestone ornaments to the tree also and used Liquid Appliqué for the snow.  I love how that stuff puffs up when you zap it with the heat gun! I’ll be needing more soon (anyone need my address? I am happy to give you it. I think it might even come in more colors too which would be fun to try! LOL)

 Christmas Tree

Here is the finished card paired with some bright red paper from Hollo’s and some sparkly striped paper from Debbie Mumm.  The Merry Christmas is cut from my Slice Holiday Expressions card and is one of the new + cards so I was able to mat it. Way cool!  **Note to self – need more of the + Slice cards!

P.S. Don’t forget that today the sale goes down another 10% on the Blow Out merchandise at FireCracker Designs – go get your shopping done :)

Quad of cards

Wave Set

I was playing with some scraps of patterned paper I found on my desktop and some pieces of red that weren’t quite the right size to get 2 regular A2 cards out of so I ended up using a 6x6 piece of this Basic Grey June Bug paper cut in half and then that cut in a wavy (by hand) half cut.  I cut the red wonky size paper into cards although they are not true to any size just they look ok LOL!  I added Flowers that I had cut with my Slice and colored with a Copic Marker to match the papers (R37) with a pop dot along the curve of the patterned paper, using a small bit of the patterned paper as the flower center too! I stamped mini sentiments from TAC set Feel Better (TA2985) in the lower corners.

They are simple cards but pretty and better than store bought!  365 Cards had a challenge a bit back for simply put cards and I took the idea from there and ran with it :)

They make cute little cards to write a note in and I think I am going to do another couple sets as well.  I found a great site called Wish Upon a Hero and I have been using them to “grant” card wishes there.

Wave Card

You know all those gazillion swap cards we all have laying around and don’t know what to do with them, this is a perfect thing to use them for.  I urge you to check it out.

Herringbone Technique

 Herringbone Technique

You know we all have our list of MUST HAVE’S and GO TO’S when we are stamping well this card although looks simple has 3 of my very favorite (well 4 if you count the hidden part the adhesive!) MUST HAVE & GO TO’S.  FireCracker Designs image (this one called Away in a Manger, it is a digital) Copic Markers and Basic Grey Paper! (this line is the Wassail line)

The technique I used here is from the current TJ newsletter it is called herringbone technique and although a little time consuming it makes quite stunning cards!

The hidden MUST HAVE GO TO is red line sticky tape and I get mine from Jody (Confessions of a Ribbon Addict)

GRrrrrrrrr I’m Late

I really hate that I get the birthday reminders in my email ahead of time and yet I find myself being late getting them sent out STILL!

This image is one from Dustin Pike (digital) printed on vellum and then colored with Copic Markers from the reverse side, so they are a bit muted. The present is a CTMH clear stamp (B1019 – Celebrations) and the sentiment is half of one from a misc. SU stamp I found in my wood mount drawer.

So off this goes to my friend – Happy Birthday anyways :)  So sorry I missed it!

Glory to the Newborn King

 Glory To The Newborn King

Did you know that Pamela drew some great Digital Stamps for FireCracker Designs and that you can get them {here}  This one is called Away in a Manger and is a perfect focal point to go with the sentiment from Christmas Phrases Glory to the newborn King!  Really that is what this is all about!

I used my Nestabilities to make the scalloped circle which I then stamped inside the circle with Jardin Moss Palette ink a few Fir trees from Just Breath (Again) by FireCracker Designs and then added the sentiment. I layered some Basic Grey Wassail paper as a mat for the card front and used a torn edge to highlight that there was some more pretty paper inside the card :)

P.S. Don’t forget to get your shopping done at FireCracker Designs. Pamela is taking time off for the holiday so order before the 15th if you want it yet this year :) Link above (under my blog banner) is to the Holiday Blowout Sale which is a cool 50% off this week!

Holiday Blessings

 Holiday Blessings

I just love this Eskimo Kisses paper from Basic Grey it has a little bit of everything for the holiday’s!

I paired the ornament paper with some cuttlebugged snowflaked paper, added a bit of glittery ribbon and then used my SU Punch to punch out the sentiment “Holiday Blessings” (TAC) and adhered it to the side.  Inside it says: May your Days be Merry and Bright which is a part of the Christmas Phrases from FireCracker Designs by Pamela.

Wishing you all Holiday Blessings! Happy Hanukkah to all my friends celebrating today too (Froby for one! – miss you guys!)

Sweet Pea Stamps Fantasy Art

Karyn Campbell - NovGuestDT2009SweetPea-03

Isn’t this another lovely stamp from Sweet Pea Stamps new line by ching chou-kuiks.

This one is called Fantasy Moon. I colored her with Copic Markers on some sparkly paper from Paper Temptress.  Added some squares of patterned paper and mounted it on a sparkly card base also.

I don’t know why this got skipped in posting but it was one of my pieces from last month as a guest designer for Sweet Pea Stamps.  It was on the company blog also about mid month I believe.

Treat Bag

Treat Bag

I really have no clue why I made this other than there was a challenge out to the FCD DT team to make something with a brown bag – yes I know it isn’t brown so maybe that is why I didn’t worry about posting it real pronto like? Who knows!  I used the spiral tree from FireCracker Designs Be Naughty set and stamped a few bulbs on it which I then colored with Sakura Metallic Gel Pens added one of the Christmas Phrases topped it off with a shiny (Spica) star and tied the bag up with a bit of red ribbon!  The inside isn’t filled yet – not sure what I will put in there or who it will be for at this time.

Wednesday, December 9, 2009

I was playing with this line of tree stumps from Elemental Doodles and ended up with a small scene that looked good when paired with some cuttlebugged paper and a bit of green paper that I had randomly stamped one of the smaller (sky) stamps on to make a pattern of sorts. I added 3 oversized brads from Eyelet Outlet and then stamped the word Remember (Just Rite Stampers) in the top of the scene portion before layering it all together.

Supply List:

Copics: E35, E37, Y08

Palette Inks: Landscape, Sunflower

Memento Inks: Rich Cocoa, London Fog

Stamps: Elemental Doodles , Just Rite Stampers

Brads: Eyelet Outlet

Paper: SU – Colors Unknown it was a spare card kit, Hollo’s

Owl Wish

Whoooo says you have to use only Christmas (or what is traditionally thought of as Christmas) stamps for your holiday cards? I love the Yoo Hooo! stamp from FireCracker Designs and I wanted to pair it with this fun wood grain and striped patterned papers I found in the Eskimo Kisses line from Basic Grey!

Owl Christmas

well what do you think? Does it work?  I thought so and I hope that the family I am sending it too will love it just as much :)

The sentiment is one half of one from the Christmas Phrases set and it is finished inside the card “a very merry Christmas brings.” I just inked the top and stamped it on the blue paper then cut it out to mount on the front of the card with a couple of Two Scoops Basic Grey brads. Cool how you can mix BG lines and they still coordinate isn’t it! Then inside I just inked the bottom half and stamped it about center on the card.
