Copic Direct to Rubber Technique

This is another of the cards I made from the Copic class I had attended. We used the Copics direct on the stamp and then spritzed and stamped them, once or twice depending ont he effect we wanted (lighter or darker). This was a fun image of a tree to work with and lends itself to a simple but elegant card front when layered with some coordinating papers. I added the Waxy Flax from CTMH (colored to match with my Copics also) and the brad do-dads on each end of the sentiment to run the waxy flax through. I liked how it turned out!

Go Banana's 1/30/09

Anna has another awesome Go Banana's sketch over on her blog today!

I played with some of my paper from Making Memories Travel Pak, my nesties, some stamps from FCD and a few Prima's to put this one together.

Torn edges are a favorite of mine so I really liked that she included it in this sketch. I also loved this sentiment from FCD. It fit the layout just perfect with the addition of a couple flourishes.

Enjoy and don't forget to hop over and give the sketch a try yourself!

Blog Candy Alert

Queen & Co goes green for CHA and is having a great blog candy offer right now - be sure to check it out! I love Queen & Co!

Sketches! {by tamara} #78

Sketches! {by tamara} #78 is late but I did give it a try!
I have so much I am trying to work on I don't know what to post when and
I don't want to bombard with posts all day long so I am trying to space them out which sometimes means I don't get all the sketches tried before the next one goes up...
Oh well I still enjoy playing and hope you enjoy looking too!

I made this card after my Copic Class I went to at the local LSS so the background was one we made in the class and then when I got home I cut my squares and added the ribbon to the card.

Answering some questions

Many times I get comments and questions I would like to respond to from you all but unfortunately I am not always able to find your emails to respond to so I thought I would take a moment to answer a few questions here :)

The pictures/graphics I use to post for blog candy alerts are tags, some I make myself and some I snag or request from tagging sites/groups. You are welcome to snag them for use yourself however please do not make changes to them such as altering the size, the wording or whatever else. They are to stay the way they are but can be freely used!

Trading ATC's - I am happy to trade ATC's - just contact me via the email link in the sidebar and we can set it up!

Cards for Sale - yes yes yes - I would be delighted to sell cards I make.
Right now I am mainly working on Valentines for the blog candy (above) but after that I will start marking the cards as for sale or not so you can then inquire about them! Thank you for the many compliments on them, it is because of those that I keep plugging along!

Published - I have no idea really about a good place to go as I have not yet been published in a magazine just in ezines. I am VERY INTERESTED in this so if you have any tips please leave them in the comments so I can start doing them and pass the info along to some others who are also wanting to be published.

Trading stamped Images...I host a monthly swap on Swap-Bot for images and you are welcome to join me there. If you really want an image I am working with then please by all means contact me through the email link on the sidebar and we can work out a trade or I am happy to stamp you off a couple to play with!

Guess that is it for now LOL

Mojo70

This is the card I made for this weeks MOJO sketch

I used stamps from Parisian Romance by FCD to make the background, the focal image and to stamp the word Love. I ran the tan cs through the cuttlebug and accented it with some ink, layered with other scraps of paper from my desktop and as a final note I added the prima which I had colored with my Copic markers and added some Shimmerz too!

Thinking of you

What a fun tri-fold card this one was! I used my Scor-Pal to make the folds even and then used a small whirly/flourish stamp from FCD to create my own background on the panels. I then stamped the pear image (also FCD) onto some light green flecked paper with my Kaliedacolor Aumtumn Leaves ink pad. I then uct it out with an ova nestie and then mounted it onto a scalloepd nestie. I did edge the papers with Cognac Palette ink before adhering them together :)
The sentiment I cut out with my SU punch and then I layered it onto the cranberry colored cardstock and trimmed around it by hand. I mounted the sentiment on the opposite panel from the main image in order to keep it closed a little better!

Floral Card

I was using up my scraps laying on the table and came up with this card :) I colored with my Copic Markers direct to the stamp from ISC and then spritzed it with alcohol and stamped it on the white paper. I was a little annoyed that the one corner didn't stamp well - I don't know if I didn't push hard enough on the stamp didn't ink it well enough or didn't spritz it enough so I decided to grab a rub on to put there LOL! I layered 2 ribbos one over the top of the other along the bottom also and I like how it looks - much prettier in RL!

C4E -SSC#16

I wanted to show you up close the glasses as I added page pebbles to make it "bubbly" LOL at least that was the goal for adding them! You can also see the paper piecing I did with the TAC paper Brighten My Day (V901) It is the same as the layering paper I used.
The Prima flowers I also colored to match the champagne with my Copic R00 marker.

Here is the entire card. I used a stamps from FireCracker Designs by Pamela (Parisian Romance) and colored with Copics as well as paper piecing the champagne bottle. I added a touch of gold Sakura Metallic pen to the glasses and the label. I also edged the white paper with my Gold Ink Dot (it is drying out and I need a new gold ink - any suggestions?!?!?!) I also colored over the entire glass with my clear Sakura pen to add spme shimmer/glass look to it...not so sure that worked though LOL!

The sketch is this weeks Crafts4Eternity Challenge so scoot over there and give it a try!
I can't wait to see work with this one!

Wow some ATC's

TSSC53

I was playing with my Slice! again and I like the hearts that it cuts so when I saw this weeks Techno Stamper sketch I knew I would be playing along! I choose to play with the flowers on the Slice! too instead of a circle but hey that is the idea of a sketch to give you a jumping off point and get you started so here is my card for this week!

Supplies used were the Cuttlebug to add the paisley print to the yellow heart and flower as well as the red background piece. The Slice! to cut the hearts and flowers. Sentiment and small flourish/paisley type stamp are from FireCracker Designs by Pamela's new set Parisian Romance. Inks were both Memento Ladybug and Palette Starry Night. Paper was from both The Paper Place and DCWV.

Squares

This is another one of the cards from the class I took Sunday - sort of! LOL we made the background there and were to cut it into squares but we were able to make 2 backgrounds so this is one I had to work with and I liked the polka dotted paper with the squares I cut so I followed Sketches! {by tamara} #78 and made this for a mingle on Stampers Corner :)

Hope you like it!

Knots with ribbon and a finished card

Yesterday on one of my lists I shared a tip that I learned over the weekend from a class I went to. I am not the inventor nor do I know if the class instructor, Larry DuShane; was the inventor of this tip. I am just sharing cause I think it is a nifty way to conserve some ribbon and not stress of the fact i am using so much that is unseen! LOL I will share at the end of the post the finished card using this tip.

Step One:
Cut your length(s) of Ribbon.

In this picture they are a little over 10" long and I am using 2 as that was how the card was for the class. You can use as few or as many as you want though!

Step Two:
Tie the ribbon(s) in a knot or bow so it looks something like this.

Step Three:
You have to decide if you want your knot/bow at the top, middle or bottom of the card front or layer you are going to put it on.

I want mine nearer to the top of this one as you can see so I will be cutting the circle apart not directly across from the knot I tied but shorter on one side.

Step Four:
This si how the cut ribbon looks now - see how there are short tails of excess ribbon and long tails of excess ribbon so my knot will sit closer to one edge of the card.

Step Five:
using your adhesive of choice adhere the ribbon to the card front/layer you are creating, making sure the knot/bow and ribbon is placed how you want. I wanted both colors of ribbon to show so I made mine "v" out.

Now flip over the card stock and adhere the ends of the tails to the back to secure it.

look at that white space now instead of ribbon left unseen it is just the back of the card stock LOL! I can live with that, how about you?

Here is the final card. We did some techniques with Copic Markers in the class and this was one of the cards we did. The stamp is from Stacy Stamps - sorry I don't know the name of it. The coloring is done with Copics direct to rubber and then Copic blending solution was used to get the watercolor effect. In the above pictures I did the auto photo correction in my PSP but it made things really dark, below is more accurately what the card looks like with softer colors - sorry about the shadowing on it, I don't have good lighting in my room today :(

So a BIG thank you to Larry for sharing this tip and BTW your other papers are going in the mail shortly! LOL! Thanks for taking time of out of your life to spend teaching us!

An award from Vicki!

Thanks to Vicki over at Stamped Smiles for awarding me this Marie Antoinette Award. I did a report one time in elementary school on her and she has always been a source of fascination for me so what a treat to see her here!

Now the rules say that I am supposed to name 5-6 things about myself
AND
tag that many people for this award...well we all know it is hard to pick just 5 so I am saying all you who stop by all the time and read my blog (you know who you are - you read through my blah blah blah everyday!) well you all grab this award and pin it on yourself
- well on your blog anyway! LOL!
Let me know you snagged it so I can visit you too and learn some things about you also!

So now a few things about me...

~ I am kinda feeling out of place in my life lately with a dd in college and a spouse who has work and other interests I am kinda feeling lost so I am thankful for stamping to fill my time!

~ I utterly HATE ice/snow/frigid cold yet I live in OH which as most of you know has all those things, especially heavy on the ice and frigid cold this year. I would move in a heartbeat but dh says he loves it here and well we can't afford two homes!

~Stamping is fun and relaxing for me - I also enjoy the feeling I get when I give cards to people and they comment on the work that went into them and appreciate them.

~I LOVE LOVE LOVE sketches and try to do several every week. It is a challenge kind of like a puzzle to make the pieces parts all work together and look (close) to what the sketch does!

~I was off from work today, had some errands to run and my dh only had to work a half day so we went out to lunch together - it was fun to have a middle of the day date LOL!

ok so there you have some random things about me - I'll be watching for your links to your award post and random things about you also!

Black Magic Birthday

I wanted to play more with the black magic paper I had got before Christmas so I thought a birthday card would be something to play with knowing I have a few coming that I will need cards to send for! The stamp was from a swap and was on regular copy paper. I colored it with Copics and then a little of the Copic Spica Glitter pens, I cut it out and then layered up on a piece of the Black Magic paper that I had crumpled, smoothed out and then sanded some to distress it. The background piece I ran through the cuttlebug (backwards! OOPS!) so I swiped it with a bit of black ink to distress it some as well as run the sanding box across it a couple times. The felt ribbon layer was a scrap I had and it was sticky backed so easy to use on the card front! I then matted with black paper and added faux dew drops to the corners after notching them off with my SU small circle punch.

Paris

Stampers Quest January Sketch was a nice one to work with this image from FCD and some cool Making Memories Travel paper I found that had a Paris cancellation on it. So I layered, sponged ink, added a page pebble, added a train tracks die cut piece I found to the top of it and it all came together really well.

C4E - SSC#15

I am proud to announce I am on the DT team now for Crafts 4 Eternity
It is a sketch challenge blog and I look forward to many new card layouts to try out...won't you join me too...hop over and check them out!

This was a fun card to make with my new Parisian Romance stamp set from FCD. I used my L'Amoure Red Palette Ink to stamp the heart and sentiment onto pink card stock (from the scrap bin!) then I did a little paper piercing in the corners of the maroon paper where I mounted the heart. I used some other patterned paper to layer on also. Used my cool Sakura pens to color parts of the heart/ribbon in before topping it with a little Pearl-Ex in Macropearl (as well as the sentiment piece.) I added some rhinestones and then some strips of ribbon along each side of the sentiment. It was an easy card to pull together once all the pieces parts were ready. I laid everything out, added my sticky tape and then started assembling it all.

I think I will add a layer of white edged with ink to the inside so it is easier to see any writing on that a person might want to include.

Have fun with your try at the challenge - I look forward to checking all the links out on the Crafts 4 Eternity blog!

I grabbed my Basic Grey Euphoria paper to make this card - I ust love the Basic Grey papers! I paired it with DCWV and then using my Slice! I cut the heart shapes to layer on this card. I edged the papers with Ranger Tea Dye Distress ink and some Rich Cocoa Memento ink also. Added the Rhinestones and LOVE sticker to finish it off. The middle background paper is made with a stamp from Parisian Romance by FireCracker Designs by Pamela.
I am loving that set so far - what about you?

Always & Forever

When I saw my new stamp set from FCD called Parisian Romance I wasn't sure what to play with first. I knew I had wanted to try coloring some skin tones with my Copics (E00 & E11) so I grabbed the stamp of holding hands first :) I am really pleased with how this one came out. The paper was in the scrap bin and brown on one side and polka dot on the other so I used that for layers and added some cream that I ran through the cuttlebug with my Swiss Dots folder. I then ran my Cognac ink pad across it to bring the dots out more. The scalloped layers were cut with my Slice! and I then just mis-aligned them in the center to create a more balanced look. The ribbon is from my January Club pack from Really Reasonable Ribbon it has a little sparkle and shimmer in it which I love! I also added some Sakura Metallic Silver for the bracelet for a little more glitz. I decided to add the flower to the top also and it is from Prima with a little green brad in the center.

Enjoy!

Go Banana's Challenge 1a-2009

Well Anna has decided to resurrect her sketch challenges so . . .
off we go with the first one of the new year!

I used some new rubber I got from FireCracker Designs by Pamela. The set is called Parisian Romance and the XOXO is perfect for adding to cards, letters, making backgrounds and these tags LOL! I used ancient Gold EP Enchanted Gold from Ranger to emboss XOXO onto the tags that I had cut from my Slice! using Basic 1. I used some ribbon from Pat Catan's to string them to the top of the card and then added the maroon bows on the top (they were in the junk drawer and I dont' know where they are from - sorry!) The top layer of the card I ran through my Cuttlebug and then swiped my Ink Dot gold over the top (also edged the tags with it and the word too) I cut the word 'love' from the Slice! Basic 1 also and mounted it onto some cream cs which I mounted with pop dots onto some ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon. It is actually 2 different ribbons layered on top of each other.

Head over to Anna's and give the sketch a try!
I am looking forward to seeing what everyone does with it!

Slice! Card

I made this card using my Slice! The flourished, flower, scalloped rectangle and word are all cut from the Slice! I made the "dots" on the white layer with one of my Sakura Glaze pens and then the balance is layered on DCWV papers from the Neutrals Card Stack.

The card itself is a square card it was a simple but fun card to make!

ETA: this is also my entry for the Stamp Something Challenge - NO STAMPS this week :)

Enjoy!

PCP Cuttlebug 7 Challenge

I made this card for a challenge on the PCP Cuttlebug group. I liked the gate fold and how I was able to coordinate the Seaside Stampin Ink tree stamp with the Cuttlebug lines to resemble some bark...ok at least that was the look I was going for! The tree was cut out with my scalloped rectangle nesties and then I added the bow with ribbon from Really Reasoonable Ribbon.

Double Gift Card Holder

Yep I gave some gift cards for Christmas I admit it I took the easy route :) BUT they loved them LOL so I am ok with that! For my cousins we gave them 2 gift certificates and I followed a double GC holder tut and made the holders. The top pic is the inside of one, pretty cool how they go side by side like that and the bottom shows one folded up. I made the bulb with a sizzix die that I ran through my Cuttlebug. I used 2 sided papers to make the holders so the bulb was the reverse of what was on the outside :) I punched a hole and tied them shut with ribbon so no one was peeking and they weren't falling out since I wasn't putting them into an envie.

FCD Goes ABC - Ursula

We are having some technical difficulties with PCP this AM so here is a copy of Ursula's hop post for you all to see :) If you leave her comments I will forward them all to her :D
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Howdy Friends! :o)
It's time for another blog hop! Hope you've got your hopping shoes on and are ready to join in the fun today!
Today's challenge was to create an ABC item (anything but a Card) that featured FCD stamps and could be used as a Valentine's Day gift. COOL!
I decided to make something for my hubby. He's been pretty good lately - heck he even fixed our broken toilet in the master bath (LOL). That deserves chocolate in my book, and what better way to present it than a homemade (or at least home decorated) candy dish!
I found this dish at our local Wal-Mart. Here's a pic of the "before" dish. (OK, yes, it's really a flower vase, but I think it makes a coolio candy dish!)
I first colored it with 3 colors of Alcohol Inks (latte, espresso, & raisin). Then I measured and cut 4 panels to fit along the top edge. To be sure the paper edge blended well with the glass, I tore the bottom of each panel and inked all the edges with Distress Walnut Ink.
Next it was time to stamp! I used two Sally stamps from Sally Says, the "love your sexy tu-lips" phrase from the Tulip plate, and a few word stamps from a few other sets. I stamped and colored all 4 panels.
Then, using Matte Medium, I painted the glass and the backside of the panels (one at a time), and affixed them to the dish. Once all 4 panels were attached, I painted over the upper section with the Medium, making sure no edges were loose.
Once that dried, I tied a ribbon to the bottom, hung some charms from the bow, and filled it with Kisses. Isn't it SWEET??
Be sure you hop on over to Karyn's Blog to continue on the FCD hop today! There will be a treat at the end of today's journey, but you have to find your way there, first! Happy Hoppin and Stampin! :o)
Thanks for stopping by today!
Ursi
FCD goes ABC...
Are you ready for a BLOG HOP?!?!?!? Well we are having one today for you to enjoy! If you are just getting started click here to get to Pamela's starting post...don't worry I'll wait for you to get back :) LOL If you are following along and got ot me then please read on....
The DT team for FCD goes ABC (Anything But A Card.) What are we talking about? Well Valentine's Day is not far away and we thought a few ideas of things you could make for your sweetie or friend would be a good hop to have. So please join us and see what kind of goodies you can make with the beautiful stamps from FCD!
I made a bouquet of flowers to give to a friend. I am not really going to do a tut on it as it was a PITA and I am sure there are much MUCH better ways to achieve the same results LOL so I will simply list the supplies I used so you know what stamp sets were involved.
Here is a wide shot showing some of the supplies:
Stamp Sets: Chin Up (for the "vase" cover I used the 2 hearts from this set)
Clearly Time (For the flowers - it is a 2 step stamping to make them)
Mahalo (for the leaves for the flowers)
Inks: All Palette Inks
Toile Pink, Belle Rose, Landscape, Orangerie, Sun Flower, French Lilac & Lavender Sachet
See how the flowers stand up pretty well on the stems. That is the paper and some glue in the center to keep them in position. The paper I used was:
Paper: GinaK Pure Luxury Card Stock 120lb.
it is a VERY STRONG paper and makes for nice sturdy cut out pieces!
Other Items:
Ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon
Copic Marker YG63 (leaves and stems)
Copic Spica Glitter Pen in Lavender (for dots on the base)
Toilet Paper Roll (for the "vase")
Ok so now you see what I have done and I am linking you to the next stop which to be Pamela's BUT don't just stop there make sure you go on to the other DT members sites and see what goodies they have made also!
