Train

While working on some masculine cards I came across this train in my search for an image to use. I had only 2 stamped of it from a past swap who knows how long ago so I colored them both then cut out the front and pop dotted it on for some dimension.
The matting and base card are actually brown although I think they look more like black here. The patterned paper is the last of the one sheet wonder I had cut at the beginning of the month (I think!) and then I found the metal Thank You in my trinket box so added it to the lower corner. After looking a bit at it I thought it to be lopsided so I grabbed the fiskars decorative scissors and cut the corner piece for the right hand top.
Pretty simple card - no frilly stuff for the guys!
Someday I think I would love to hop a train and go for a ride!

The 2008-2009 FCD design team says good-bye!

This is my last blog hop for the current FCD design team. A new team will soon take the helm. I have had a great year of learning and creating with FCD and have made some great friends! I am excited that we now get to be fans and collaborate with other past DT members. Woo Hoo! More ideas and art to see! Pamela has been a phenomenal lady to get to know and work with. Thank you so very much! I can't wait to meet you in person!

Remember these hops are roundy bouts so wherever you start is where you will end easy to remember that way! Each blog will link you to the next one in the circle and be sure to leave a comment for everyone as no one knows who the mystery hostess is where the candy winner will be chosen from! Besides you are going to see so much fabulous art you will want to tell everyone how wonderful and eye catching it is! LOL The blog hop ends on August 31, 2009 at which time Pamela will choose a winner and announce it on her blog.

I choose to use this cute girl from the Sweet Child of Mine set as my farewell. I have learned from this team that is ok to lean on others when you need to so inside it says just that

Lean on Me...

Thanks ladies for letting me lean and learn from you all this past year! I hope you know I am here for you too whenever you need a leaning post!

This background was made using the AI Foil technique from Technique Junkies and then I ran it through my cuttlebug! I love how it mimics a tree base she is leaning on. Coloring done with Copics and added some cool floral ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

Align Center
One more surprise for this hop!

"Pam has decided to have a Scavenger hunt for a 25% off on your entire order (excluding magazine orders please), coupon code!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Your letter from my blog is O.
Once you've gone all the way around, you'll have all the letters for the code.

The code is good from the hop start (Aug 29, 2009 11 AM through Aug 31, 2009 8 PM)

Last time Libby linked to me and had you say hi so this time since I am linking to her this round let's all return the favor and make her day!

My Never Ending Quest

Today starts the voting for the final round of the Stampers Quest Search for the Trail Master.

You can see all the entry pictures {here} and there will be a poll set up where you can vote if you click on polls on the left hand side. Please vote for the one you think is the best while I'd love to have your vote I want it to be won on creativity and such not on a popularity contest.

This was an truly fun journey learning more about myself as the specific themes were stated. Some I liked, some I really struggled with and some like today's really puzzled me until "hello" light turned on and it all came together for me! LOL

The theme for the final round was to show what Quest means to us. WHAT?!?!? How the heck do you show that? Isn't t never ending. That is what I have been saying to myself ALL week. Finally last night when I looked at my started project still waiting to dry I said to myself "Self no one is going to get that without an explanation. Dang! Now what do I do this is due tomorrow."

As I sat there thinking my words came back to me NEVER ENDING which is exactly what art is, it changes and evolves and grows with you. Sometimes reverting back to where it started but it is always a result of you searching and seeking out what makes you happy - YOUR QUEST!

So here is my illustration of Quest in the form of a never ending card.

These are close ups of the pages for you to see if you like but you can also make the one above bigger by clicking right on it.

Stamps used are from FireCracker Designs by Pamela - she has been a huge part of my stamping this last year and I love the variety of styles she offers. Being a part of her DT team has also pushed me to try new things and really put myself out there for other people to see.
Thank you Pamela!

Paper is from Basic Grey collection which I have discovered along the way is one of my favorites. It seems the next collection they release is always on my Gotta Have It List!

Technique Junkies has become another favorite of mine and this shows one of the techniques (AI Foil) and uses an oriental stamp. When I first started stamping they intrigued me and I have many of them but rarely use them now. It seems my quest has taken me in another direction. The stamp I used here is from All Night Media. Coloring was done with Copics! One of the most amazing set of coloring tools I have found on my personal art quest!

I love fairy's and magical things and this stamp from Elemental Doodles fit here so well. It is a new style of stamps I tried and found to be fun to work with. They are great for both cards and more miniature works of art. Coloring here was also done with Copics and added some pearls for a little bling as well as some Spica Clear over her wings (sorry it didn't pick up so well.)

This shows the first stamps I fell in love with and they have a little of everything to suit your needs. The Angel Co. (TAC) This shows some of my favorites for backgrounds, I love the little butterfly and the saying Follow your dreams is really what it is all about.

So I hope you enjoy the bit I shared about my personal art quest and what each page was about. I love the stamping world and all the different artistic things I have seen. I am sure my quest will continue on for many a year to come!

Now don't forget to go and vote in the last round of the search!
Pictures can be seen {here}
then click on poll on the left hand side to cast your vote for your favorite!

hugs,

P.S. Don't forget tomorrow starts the FCD DT's Saying Goodbye Blog Hop...the new team is ready to move in as we are moving out!

G is for Giraffe

The hurrier I go the behinder I get...I think I am just permanently behinder to be honest!

I made this card for a Letter swap I participated in, I am had a hard time parting with it. The stamps are form TAC - Giraffe (T-834) and So Sweet (T-2347.) Queen & Co. Moss pearls were used as well as some Prima's. The background on the left side was made using the Fiskars Texture plate and then running the inkpad over it to bring the design out more. Ovals were cut with the Nestabilities and the larger giraffe is cut out and pop dotted to the side of the baby giraffe. Coloring was done with Copics and this was also a sketch I followed but did not write down which one or where it was from :(

Moo Booklet

On my last trip to Hollo's I found these nifty little plastic holders. I imagine they are for name tags as they have a slit in them and then a place for a pin to go through at the top. I figured they would be perfect size for Moo's! LOL so yep I made a tiny Moo booklet with some stamps from Elemental Doodles. Here are a couple pages for you to see, they are being sent to Mel and a few I didn't get very good pics of - maybe she will and you can see them in their gallery then.

I found a scrap of paper that looked somewhat like a post card so I cut it to size and then stamped some of the items from the Mini Just a Note set and added them to it.

For this one I liked the quote and I added the buttterfly - whose wings flair up a bit (until you put him in the holder LOL!) I also added a trio of mini pearls to the corner of this one.

I made the theme of the booklet Friendship and this is the front cover.

Something to Crow About

Ok I have no idea if I have ever previously shared this with you all but I figure now is a good time! This is one of the pieces I made when I applied to be on the FireCracker Designs by Pamela DT. I can hardly believe that this was almost a year ago! This weekend we will be having our final Blog Hop with the current team and then get ready for the new team to come on board and showing off their work.

So here are the crows - they are napkin holders for a party we had. Colored them and then dabbed with Versamark and then into embossing powder to make them a little more sturdy. Huge hit they were!

Reminder of the Blog Hop this weekend - starts Saturday at 11 AM EST.
Be there or be square! LOL

There will be blog candies, coupons and lots of awesome eye candy! It will be a circular hop like past ones so where ever you start along the way that is where you end. Comment everywhere as we have no idea who the hostess is which means we have no idea where the blog candy hides :)

Be sure also to stay tuned for the new DT team announcement...it'll be coming soon I am sure.

Windmill

Pretty simple card I used the TJ whitewashing technique on this, was sticking with mono theme of brown as best I could :) Stamp is from TAC and I embossed it with clear after stamping it in versamark. I found the twine in the bottom of the ribbon basket and added it too. Used foam mounting tape between layers to allow for the thickness of it.

using the scraps up

I have been trying to clean up the scrap bin as it was over flowing some so here is a card I made from bits and pieces from it. The card base had already been cut with the oval from a nestabilitie so I put the pattern paper behind it and then added a matching strip of it at the top on a green strip layer and a bit of brown ribbon tied across. I am not at home so I can't recall what the saying is or where it is from but it was already stamped on the card stock also so I am thinking I had previously had this or a very similar card in my head since it all came together and lined up LOL!

It's Not the Destination...

Hey everyone :) Hope you are having a good Friday!

Today starts the next round of voting for the Stampers Quest Search for the Trail Master. The theme this week was masculine cards. This is the card I submitted for the week.

Stamps are from FireCracker Designs by Pamela set called Elephants on Parade.
The sentiment was received in a swap and wasn't marked so I don't know who made it.
Inks are all Memento and Palette, using sponges to apply color. The elephant was colored with Copics and cut out to adhere to the card front. I went the multiple layers and no embellies route on this one since it was designed for a man :) Although I know he appreciates the cards I know he isn't as fascinated with the bits and pieces like some others are.

So if you can spare some time for voting please go {here} for the details and links to cast your vote for your 5 favorites to continue on! While I do love your vote please vote for who you feel should be moving on in the competition

Thanks so much who have taken the time so far and your continued voting is appreciated :)

hugs,

Sledding

This Girl on Sled is a new single from FireCracker Designs by Pamela and she is just the right size to fit with these lovely pine trees from the Just Breathe (Again) set While I was using them I figured I might as well go for the mountains from Little Things in the background too! So there is my scene complete with sky and snow...you have to pretend that whomever was pulling the little child is standing off taking the picture of her :)

The sketch I used for this card was done by one of my BSB24 sisters - Wendy. She posts them weekly and you can find this one here...Browse her blog for more too.

Instead of a flourish on the side you will see I used some snowflake felt - I don't know who it is by as I got it in a group swap but cutting 4 of the flakes seemed about perfect for this card...and guess what I have card #2 ready for my Holiday Card box! WooHoo!

Huggabugg

Huggabugg :)
this cute little Flutterby is from Stamping Bella I purchased her when I took my Copic Marker class way back in May and this was the first time I inked her up! I was playing with the TJ AI Foil technique and thought this paisley one was pretty playful so the little huggabugg was perfect for it! I colored her with Copic Markers and then did a little out of the box cutting, mounting her on some foam tape on the purple layer then adding to the top of the AI Foil piece. The sentiment is from TAC and inside says something about hugs (sorry am not at home right now so can't go look to be exact!)
I added all the rhinestones to the spots on her but I am thinking next time NOT such a good idea LOL it seems a little too much for her tiny body!

mmm Chocoholic!

Does this look good or what? I could definitely see myself biting into a big juicy chocolate covered berry right now....BRB! LOL I so wish I had some here!

This card is a smaller square made with some fun Lime Ricky Basic Grey papers. I also used my Copic Markers to color the berries in, some Basic Grey Pearls, Memento Ink and MM thanks rub-on.

The fabulous stamps are called Chocoholic and Mini Chocoholic from Elemental Doodles and not only that but how about that spray n the back white layer of paper? It smells heavenly! What is it you ask? A new product from Elemental Doodles called Scent-A-Mist! It is shimmery and oh so chocolaty smelling. Can you get it? Why yes you can. There are several scents and colors and you can read all about them right {here} PLUS watch for some more projects coming using them. My family knows when I have been playing with them cause the craft room smells like a candle shop they say but they also get fooled by the chocolate scent - hey so do I and we end up wanting chocolate!

The sketch I used for this card was also from Crafts4Eternity #40 but I wasn't able to post it then due to some fine tuning going on behind the scenes on the Scent-A-Mist so Michele thanks for a great sketch to work with :)

Friend in Me

I love the Sweet Child of Mine stamp set not only for the darling images but the wonderful phrases it contains! Like this one :) See the Bird from A Little Bird Told Me is stopping over to check out what his friends are up to at their house. Isn't it great that all the FCD sets coordinate so nicely together! It is a blessing to be able to mix and match images and phrases to meet your card needs.

I stamped the phrase in Versamark and embossed it with black powder onto my shiny purple paper. I then stamped and colored the images with Copics and Prisma WaterColor pencils before cutting them out, then covering them with Versamark and clear embossing powder. I cut the shiny purple and black layering papers with my Paper Shapers and then mounted them to a smaller notecard that I also cut the ends on. I added a touch of ribbon and there you go a quick card to send to a friend.

Thanks for taking a look today! Hope everyone is having a good day. It looks a little overcast here today and I am in a bit of a funk so I am going to go read a bit and hope I find myself a little better off this afternoon.

Tall Tri-Fold

I got a new magazine in the mail called Beautiful Cards. It was my first one so I was flipping through it as soon as I got home. I noticed a tall tri-fold card and thought hey that would be nice and fun to make for the letter F card I needed to complete. This is my rendition although I adhered the back so it was actually a pocket and I slid the coffee pack into it!

Paper is from Hollo's and Basic Grey.
Stamps are from TAC
and the flowers were cut with my Slice.

Elephant Scene

Yep this is the card I entered for the Scene portion of the
Stampers Quest search for the trail Master.

You can still vote today yet if you go here all the details will be there!

Remember yesterday when I posted the Doe a Deer I explained about making the card, not liking it, asking for critiquing and redoing well this was the second card I had done that day.

Here is the before

was pretty plain - I was so into making the "scene" I forgot about the rest of the card!

Here is after.

Way more better! LOL - thank you to my friend for opening my eyes and seeing sometimes you need to keep adding to get it to look complete! Yep that is the story I am sticking with! In other words take off my blinders when I am working! A HUGE THANK YOU TO YOU for your help! (you know who you are! and I appreciate the honesty and tips you offered!)

Inks:
Palette
Copic Markers

Doe a Deer

Everyone likes a challenge right? Well not always sometimes they are downright scary! The challenge for round 2 of the Stampers Quest Search for the Trail Master was to make a Scene. Hey I can make a "scene" but I don't think it was the type of "scene" they were talking about!

BTW you can still vote - go here!

I was thankful that I had branched out a bit in the sets I have recently picked from FireCracker Designs by Pamela. She has some awesome things to make a scene with and all of the sets can mix and match to get what you want. Sometimes though that is the problem figuring out what you want! I tried to make a nice background and then figured I could stamp or layer up on it, wasn't working! I tried to make the scene first and then mask and brayer over for the background - not exactly what I had imagined! I finally ended up with this which I was kinda ok with but not too keen on the sun.

I rather liked my copper pearls on there but hadn't really paid attention to the "flow" of the card so putting them vertically while using them horizontally on the sentiment and horizontally lined paper didn't add up real well! However at the time I was done I was just glad I had a finished product. Well the more I kept coming back to it I was like nooooooo So I went on to a whole nother card which I will share another day with you. I decided to take a friend up on her offer for critiquing because I wanted this (and the other one) to be better - they needed more wow and I plainly wasn't seeing it! She was kind in that she didn't say YUK straight up but also kind in offering suggestions as to ideas of what to change and why. I listened (well read the chat LOL) and took notes and then went off to play again with my cards and revamp them to get something with a little more WOW to them and that worked better...here is the result...

See I liked my pearls too much to leave them totally off but I did remove them from vertical to horizontal so they matched. I also added a clippo and a piece of coordinating ribbon to the upper right of the card. Moved my sentiment up a tad higher too (and yeah when I went to remove things I had to swap out the patterned paper piece cause I ripped the other one!) So what do you think? Changes for the good? Changes too much? Changes not enough?

I ended up NOT choosing this one for the contest because in the adding to the sun color I thought the deer ended up mottled looking and just wasn't the best of the 2 cards I had then.

Sets Used from FireCracker Designs:
So Far Away
Just Breath (Again)
Little Things

Paper:
Basic Grey - Wassail
Hollo's Paper

Inks:
Kaliedacolor Autumn Leaves
Copic Markers

other items:
Queen & Co Copper Pearls
Nestabilities
Clippo from Bits-n-Pieces
Ribbon - misc. colored with Copic to match card

ParTy hAt

This is for the ParTy at Stampers Quest to help them celebrate their 1st Anniversary! What a great resource this ezine is for stampers and crafters. I love the blog format so that each item is featured and can be commented on. I love the variety they offer for beginners to advanced. There is always something you can learn there. Each month they have a sketch too - so many choices that it is hard to NOT find something you want to try when browsing there!

There is a contest going on to get a whole lot of party hats so I made the one above. There is still time! You have until Sunday night to upload them. Come ParTy with us!

Chocolate Makes EVERYTHING Better

This scrumptious little ATC was made using a FREE download from Elemental Doodle called ATC Oval Frame it will print out onto your card stock with a guide then for you to use to make your oval :) How cool is that - no more hoping you got it right, balanced, or whatever LOL! You can find it on the main Elemental Doodles site under Free Downloads.

For the stamping on the ATC itself I used 2 of their sets the Mini Chocoholic and Regular Chocoholic stamp sets. They compliment each other very well!
I matted on red cardstock to match the luscious berry and then added a bow of red ribbon to the upper corner. The chocolate on the strawberry itself has a layer of Crystal Lacquer on it to give it that drippy look....YUMMMMMMMM

Through a Child's Eyes

Again I was playing with a sketch from 2 Sketches 4 You. This was a bonus one and you have to scroll down the page {here} to see it, this is my version of it. I don't know why I have issue with the shape thing but I converted the circle over to a square here :)

I used the baby and sentiment stamps from Sweet Child of Mine (FCD set) and some DCWV Once Upon A Time Paper. I used my Marvy Uchida punch to make the scalloped background for the stamped baby. I added the prima flowers to the corner of the sentiment. The stamped image and sentiment were done on a CTMH card base that I had cut something off of before and I liked that it was not quite just plain cream colored so it blended better with the sheerness of the pink and the ribbon. Hope you enjoy!

if you haven't yet checked this set out at FireCracker Designs you really ought to there is a HUGE range of Children on this one so you can cover just about any years. I can't wait to try something with the girl leaning on the wall! It is here if you want to go peak and place an order :)

Don't Fall Over here is a 6x6 page!

I wanted to try one other thing for my Artful INKables submission and decided to go with a simple 6x6 page layout for a wedding. I used some DCWV Black and White Prints paper and some a sentiment from the Wedding Silhouette set to create a page where the couple could then insert a picture and they were done.
I haven't a clue what I will do with this so if anyone is interested in it please let me know :)

Touch a Star

Happy Sunday everyone! I had played a bit on Friday with some techniques from the current Technique Junkies Newsletter but didn't get cards assembled until today as we were gone all day yesterday. So I want to share one with you!

This little girl from the Sweet Child of Mine stamp set from FireCracker Designs by Pamela is so intriguing to me. I just love her face the look of wonder. This time I colored her with Prisma Watercolor pencils and made it a cool evening so she can be outside with the stars.

The layer with the stars was made using the Gesso Off technique and then the layer with the cuttlebugged lines was made using the AI Foil technique. Both pretty easy but make great background pieces! I did several of the AI Foil ones so watch for those to appear throughout the month also. I did find that it was hard to attach to the AI Foil pieces so had to break out the red line tape circles for that part!

Funny now looking at this card it is simply layers there isn't any embellies on it at all! No ribbon either! It doesn't seem to need anything and is quite pretty IRL.

Some other news for you all too!

It is NOT too late for you to get your art in for the Design Team call at FCD! You have until Friday! The term has changed to a 6 month term making it a little easier for you to fulfil your commitment to the Design Team. You DO NOT have to have experience to be on the Design Team just do quality work and share your creations in as many places/ways as you can! FCD was my first team and I encourage you all to try - I was so surprised to have made it and I have had such a great time. I have learned much from my fellow DT members. So come on what are you waiting for! Go {here} to get all the details!

hugs,
